mFRR AT/DE cooperation "GAMMA"

As part of the GAMMA cooperation (German Austrian Manual Merit Order Activation), the German and Austrian transmission system operators (TSOs) cooperated on calling up the mFRR (manual frequency restoration reserves, minute reserve - MRL). A joint merit order (MOL) was formed with the bids of all partner TSOs. Joint procurement or dimensioning was not planned.

The joint call-off led to reciprocal deliveries and purchases of positive and negative MRL between Germany and Austria.

The data was available to the internet platform regelleistung.net and contains the following information in a csv file for the period from December 1, 2019 up to and including June 21, 2022:

  • The quantities netted with APG (Austria Power Grid AG) separately by import and export from the perspective of Germany under "PRE-NETTING".
  • The MRL purchased by the cooperation, broken down into positive and negative values under "mFRR_FROM_COOP".
  • The MRL supplied for the cooperation, broken down into positive and negative values under "mFRR_TO_COOP".
