This document summarizes the key technical requirements—from the perspective of the four German transmission system operators—for connecting data centers to the high- and extra-high-voltage grid and supplements the existing specifications of VDE-AR-N 4120/4130. The focus is on requirements for system-compatible behavior—particularly during frequency changes and grid faults—the rapid recovery of active power consumption following grid faults, reactive power control, and the limitation of short-term power changes. In addition, the standard describes guidelines for preventing undesirable grid disturbances and interactions, as well as requirements for simulation models, verifications, and studies to ensure the safe integration of data centers into the high- and extra-high-voltage grid.
