To this end, the financing requirements are determined annually in advance in accordance with the Energy Financing Act (EnFG). The financing covers the difference between the revenues and expenditures of the transmission system operators as specified in Annex 1 of the EnFG.
Pursuant to Section 51(1) of the EnFG, the transmission system operators shall publish the EEG financing requirements for 2027, as well as the projected amount of the compensation claim under Section 6(1), sentence 1 or 2, of the EnFG for the year 2026, on their joint website by October 26, 2026.
The EEG financing requirement for the year 2027 amounts to 17.524 billion euros.
The projected amount of the compensation claim under Section 6(1), sentence 2, of the EnFG for the year 2026 has been forecast at 2.000 billion euros.
The EEG financing requirement was determined in consultation with the Federal Network Agency, which is mandated by law to monitor compliance with statutory requirements. The figures required for the calculation—specifically, the feed-in from EEG-eligible facilities in 2027 and the corresponding subsidy payments—were determined by an independent expert on behalf of the four transmission system operators. In accordance with Section 4 of the Energy Promotion Act (EnFG), the EEG financing requirements for 2027 and the projected amount of the compensation claim for 2026—including the calculation basis—were reported to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) on September 30, 2026.
