In accordance with Sections 10 and 11 of the EnFG, German transmission system operators are obliged to calculate the KWKG levy for the following calendar year in a transparent manner and to publish it by 25 October of the calendar year.
KWKG levy from 1 Januar 2026
Based on the forecast values reported by the subordinate network operators and the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA), the expected burdens were identified in accordance with the current KWKG and EnFG, and the KWKG levy applicable nationwide for the forecast final consumption was determined and published on 24 October 2025. In accordance with the provisions of the EnFG, income and expenditure on the KWKG account are also taken into account when calculating the KWKG levy.
In summary of the above data, this results in a rounded KWKG levy of 0.446 ct/kWh on non-privileged end consumption from 1 January 2026.
